It all begins with a dream. A dream, and a desire to tell a good story. After weeks, months, and sometimes years of writing, editing, blood, sweat, and tears, you have it. Your manuscript. And while it is not your first born, it’s precious nonetheless. It’s precious because you have poured your heart and soul into those pages and now its fate rests in the hands of another.
After you have your manuscript, the search begins. You prepare your pitch and send it out to every literary agent and publisher willing to read an unsolicited query. And then, you wait. And wait. And…wait. Along with the dreaded wait comes rejection. Rejection leads to disappointment. Disappointment leads to discouragement.
If not for the constant support of my family, friends, and fellow authors, I would not be where I am today. If not for their encouraging words, telling me to “send out just one more query,” I would not be preparing for Cold Ambition‘s release this summer from Soul Mate Publishing.

You are so right about the journey–write, revise, write, edit more, wait. And wait. It takes a village and our friends and family and even cyber FB friends are so encouraging in this solitary profession. Congrats on your new release. The blurb is well written and compelling.
Mine is due out in April 2014. I’m still waiting to see my cover for THURSDAYS AT COCONUTS and can’t wait.
