A classic holiday film that I enjoy watching with my family each year is an old, black and white version of Truman Capote’s A Christmas Memory narrated by Mr. Capote and starring Geraldine Page. It is a charming tale from his youth about his relationship with his three aunts, most importantly the aunt played by the incomparable Ms. Page, whose delight for the holiday season rivals only that of Capote’s young alter ego, nicknamed Buddy. This film is special not only for its heartwarming message, but also for its significance to my family. As it were, this film has become a Christmas memory for us.
This time of year is a wonderful albeit busy time because it is a time when families come together and make their own Christmas memories. Whether it’s caroling and Christmas pageants or holiday shopping and those long road trips to grandma’s, Christmas time is a special time, a time when the magic of the season can make you feel like a child once more. I wish you and yours a wonderful holiday season filled with many happy Christmas memories.
